I recently read an article that stated we all have our magic number. Not our lucky number, but the amount of money we would be happy earning. That magic number that means we are finally living the life we’ve always wanted.
I finally did the math and found mine… do you have yours?
Anyways, what I’m getting at is that in order to get to that number, we have to put in the work. But when it comes to being an affiliate marketing entrepreneur, you will notice you get to a point where you’re starting to get some attention.
Your blog traffic will increase. You will get more YouTube subscribers and more followers on your social media accounts.
And that’s great!
Until you notice the sales aren’t coinciding with your growth.
Don’t panic and don’t get discouraged because there’s a very simple solution… you need to build your email list!

Let’s get to it! Why You Need to Build An Email List to Grow Your Business
For the longest time, I was in denial that I needed to build my email list. I just felt like I hadn’t reached that point in my business where I needed to collect emails from my readers.
Well, it turns out I was wrong!
And boy did I miss out on some growth and sales.
Turns out, the best time to start building your email list is the second you start getting traffic to your content. It doesn’t matter if you have 10 visitors a month or 10,000 visitors a month… having just one person subscribe to your email list can make all the difference.
My cousin who’s also a digital entrepreneur had the same revelation earlier this year. He kept sending paid traffic to his website and Shopify store, but no one was making a purchase. Not only that, but no one seemed to be interested enough to come back to his content.
Fast forward a few months later, and now he’s got a few subscribers and some of his organic traffic is coming back for more content.

I recently watched a video that goes into detail on how building an email list is the only way you can own your traffic. Clicks to your content alone isn’t enough to guarantee that your online business will make sales.
Now that you know why you need to build an email list… let’s show you how to build an email list to get your business to where you want it to be. Building A Brand
Before anyone will give you their email, they first have to trust you and get to know you. The best way to do this is to provide value in your niche in exchange for nothing.
Think of it as a long term investment.
This value comes in the form of content!
By creating valuable content, your audience will feel like they can rely on you to provide them with the information that they need and are looking for. Just remember that the content you create should always be relevant to your niche and it should always strive to solve a problem your audience may have.
When you create content, your audience will know that they can come to you whenever they have a question or concern; because they now trust you, they will take your recommendations seriously.
Once you have created content and that content is attracting people, it is time to convert that into loyal subscribers. What’s Your Bribe?
I hate to break it to you, but creating epic content alone isn’t enough to grow your affiliate marketing business… let alone build an email list to what you want it to be. In order to build an email list to help you reach financial freedom,
So it’s time to get creative and come up with your very own bribe or freebie that you can provide your subscribers in exchange for their emails. I currently have two different bribes going for my email lists and one is most definitely an eBook that I wrote myself.
Don’t freak out if you’ve never written an eBook, it’s a lot easier than it sounds to create your very own.
All you have to do is focus on an aspect of your niche you are very knowledgeable in and that solves a problem in your niche. So if you run a food blog like I do, you can offer a free recipe for an amazing dish.
If you’re just getting started with affiliate marketing, then just promise to keep your audience up to date on your latest traffic. To do this, you just need to add a sign up form to your blog. Now it’s Time to Email
Once your audience gives you their email, it’s time to connect with them.
How do you do this you ask?
By emailing them of course!
If you’re wondering, what you’re gonna say to your subscribers, don’t worry… I got you.
For the first few days, you’re gonnna want to send your subscribers at least an email a day for the first week or so that they subscribed. This is a great way to keep you and your brand fresh in their minds. This is known as a Follow Up Series. It’s a series of emails that will automatically go out to all your subscribers.
Always remember to remind your subscribers when you email them where they know you from; or they might unsubscribe. Some people like to join email lists just for the freebies; but some might actually get some value from your emails.
In order to email your subscribers without going insane… you’re going to need an email autoresponder. I mean… can you imagine having to email a hundred people a day one by one?!
I recommend using Aweber.

Besides the initial Follow Up Series, you’re also gonna want to email your list whenever there’s a new product you think they might like or that they could benefit from. Whenever you upload new content, you can also notify them so they can stay up to date.
These are known as Broadcast messages.

Now that you know how to build an email list to grow your affiliate marketing business, I’m gonna share a few simple tips to help you grow your list and keep your subscribers happy.
1. Be Consistent- Just like with the content you post, if you decided to email your list on Wednesdays and Fridays, stick to that schedule. That’s when they’re gonna expect an email from you so don’t let them down.
2. Do Not Spam- While it is definitely a great idea to include affiliate links when sending emails to your lists, don’t go link crazy because your subscribers will see right through you. If your subscribers get the feeling all you care about is making a sale, then they’ll unsubscribe real quick.
3. Over Deliver- This refers to the content you provide via emails; as well as the value in your bribe. Just because it’s free, doesn’t mean it shouldn’t have some value.
4. Get Personal- Don’t be afraid to incorporate your personal experience with your subscribers. Remember that people buy from people; not robots. By adding a personal touch, either by addressing your subscribers by name or sharing your own experience, you’re building your brand and relating to your email list.
5. Subscribe to Your List- This one may sound crazy, but trust me. By subscribing to your own email list, you get to experience firsthand what your subscribers will experience. I found that this has helped me build my email list. Taking Action
